So to nobody’s surprise yesterday Apple announced their second generation smartwatch, the Series 2. Boasting a faster processor, brighter screen and new to the party, GPS. It does look like an impressive device but I’m still not sold.
I’ve heard from many of you that the Apple Watch hasn’t lived up to all of your expectations and as a result I have abstained from purchasing one but now there’s a new kid on the block it opens up some potential avenues for me.
Now I do like the latest and greatest tech but sometimes I don’t see the need when a previous iteration does everything you need. For example, when Apple released the 5S I went out and bought a 5 as I thought that the addition of a fingerprint reader wasn’t worth the price hike (I was so wrong about that one). I like the fact that Apple constantly keep the preceding model on the market to add a more entry level priced device and this hasn’t changed with the original Apple Watch, although it has just a little bit.
The first Apple Watch now named Series 1 has received a bit of a speed bump which intrigues me quite a lot, plus it comes in at a reduced price. Now I’m not totally convinced by smartwatches yet but with this change I think that I’m ready to give the updated original a go.
Now I don’t need GPS or anything like that so I feel as though the extra functionality in the Series 2 would be a waste of money or maybe something I would be more interested in what will inevitably become the Series 3.
Fair enough Watch OS 3 is the operating system that the watch should have been released with on day one and from what I’ve heard it’s a great improvement and one of the main reasons that I’m now interested in investing.
So you current Apple Watch owners out there. What are you doing? Are you upgrading or sticking with what you have? Would be really interesting to hear what you think, or at least what I should be doing.
Damn this is good therapy.
