What if; we've all been there... What if I'd been quicker, on the ball, at the decisive moment: ready.
Like many of you, I've missed opportunities to take photographs either by being to slow, hesitant, or by not having a camera ready causing me to 'lose' an image that could have been outstanding. These are usually those opportunities that can't be photographed again due to them being out of your control: so we kick ourselves for missing it.
But over time I have learnt to accept these lost chances party due to getting older, and wiser as a result of getting older, although some would say nah! But think of it in a different way and you can begin to accept those lost moments for what they are, and that is as a memory.
This is why I no longer beat myself up because I have these images burned into my mind forever more. Sure, I can't show others this image, well not yet anyway unless technology finally becomes available to plug me into a computer and download those memories, but what's most important is the knowledge that you saw it in yours mind eye; that fleeting moment that is now past.
I can now accept that although I have missed what could have been a 'winning' image taken on my camera, I at least have that image all to myself in my memory.
