Spam Is Back From Vacation

Spam Is Back From Vacation
12 Jan 11

So have you been getting a little more spam lately since the holidays? Well your not the only one. You probably even noticed the decline of spam offering you cash or Viagra at discount prices during the last few months of 2010. Well get ready, because spam is back from Christmas vacation.

According to many security experts the decline of e-mail spam was due to the sudden disappearance of the Rustock botnet and other networks from the spam business. The amount of spam hitting e-mail inboxes fell abruptly in late December 2010, and has stayed that way until about the last 72 hours. Researchers say now it seems that other spammers have picked up where Rustock and the other spamming operations left off and are very much back in business.

So what can you do to protect yourself? The simple things are don't click on links in email. Don't open up attachment files from an unknown sender, and most importantly, don't believe for a minute that you can get rich quick by helping out some Nigerian prince. Always remember the golden rule..."If it's too good to be true, then it probably is".
