Bomb hoaxer sentenced to time already served

Bomb hoaxer sentenced to time already served

In 2008, a teenager in North Carolina decided it would be funny to call in bomb threats to various schools while 300 people listened in via Ventrilo for their amusement. This perp was held without bail for 22 months while the issue was investigated. In the end, he was sentenced to 22 months. Time already served.

This was not a situation in which it was a one-time mistake or lapse in judgement. These "prank" phone calls went on for almost a year before the FBI caught up with him. In fact, some listeners paid him money to call their schools.

In my opinion, 22 months is not a long enough sentence. The fact that money was exchanged and that it went on for so long indicates organized adult thinking. Fortunately, thanks to technology, the phone calls were recorded, serving as absolute proof that this individual broke the law and terrorized people. He may not have built any bombs or killed anyone, but he is still a terrorist.

A terrorist now loose on our streets.
