I recently had the luxury of purchasing an Airport Extreme for my house. Ah, what a lovely device this is and I was really looking forward to replacing my existing BT Broadband router with it and using the old router as a Wi-Fi extender in my bedroom to cover the top floor of the house.
Now as you know, there’s lots to consider when swapping out the router in your house. Make sure all the phones can connect to the new Wi-Fi network. Xbox. Smart TV’s. Sky/BT Vision. Laptops. NAS. The list goes on.
One thing I DIDN’T expect to be checking was the Spotify playlists on my Sonos. Lo and behold, this was the only thing I had a problem with.
Everytime I tried to play ANYTHING from my Spotify playlist, I was met with a There was a problem playing this file. There is no connection to Spotify error.
How annoying!
Firstly, I took the step of removing the Spotify authorisation from my Sonos and then adding it back in. No luck.
After that, I power-cycled the Airport Extreme. No luck.
Then I browsed through every setting I could find on the Sonos that was linked to Spotify. Nothing.
The frustrating thing was that I knew it wasn’t specifically something to do with the Airport Extreme as I was happily playing music through TuneIn and Amazon Cloud Play on there, so access was not inherently a problem.
So because of this, I took the following action, which worked. Basically took it down to brass tacks. If you have this problem, I can’t guarantee this will work, but it certainly did for me.
There is a little window into my life.
