You may have read this week that Microsoft is having a little bit of a fall out with Google over their Windows Phone YouTube app but if you’re an Android or iOS user you've been enjoying cat video goodness from the day you got your first device. And now the experience gets even better with a release of a brand new version for both platforms.
As you’d expect it gives you all the same fab features of the previous iteration but with a couple of really nifty tricks. Navigate to the video that you’d like to waste 5 minutes with and begin your viewing pleasure but if you fancy searching for something else simply place your finger on the playing video and drag down and it’s immediately placed in the bottom left of your screen revealing your search list so you can continue to browse at your leisure and swiping back up brings it to the forefront. If you then grow tired of the video when minimised you can simply dismiss it by swiping left or right on your screen. Magic!
Another nifty new feature is the ability to search playlists which was missing from the previous version.
Android owners can also take advantage of enhanced Chromecast features to send your visuals to the big screen.
So if you haven’t upgraded yet or aren't as obsessed as me at getting the latest version of everything the second they come out then click that update button.
YouTube version 2.0 is available on Google Play and the Apple App Store.
