The Walking Dead: A New Frontier

I’ve never been in the closet about how much I love Telltale games. You know the ones, they get you to make decisions and the progression of the game is made on those very choices. The best of all is the ‘Walking Dead’ series which I have been playing for the last few years. And please don’t get me started about the final decision I made for Clementine at the end of season 2.

Anyway, with that aside I was delighted to see that the third installment (I don’t count the Michonne ones, but it is damn good) was on sale for only £12.50 in the Xbox One Spring Sale.

As before as mentioned in previous reviews, myself and my family hunker down to play the game as if we were watching a movie. But our previous experiences were on the Xbox 360 so this was our first on the One S. True to form the graphics were amazing and gifted by the next-gen console.

The story continues from where Clementine, the main female protagonist was left in the wilds caring for the baby of Kenny, which as I said left me with regret because I could have given her a better ending. But we find her a grown-up badass who kills, swears and takes no prisoners.

The gameplay is just the same as previous incarnations, generally selecting what you say to those who you interact with and solving various puzzles while you try to avoid ‘The Herd’ of walkers.

It is grim, horrifying, heartbreaking and breathtaking all at the same time.

If you haven’t played the ‘Walking Dead’ series the first episodes are free on Xbox, PS4 and mobile and if you can get the family involved then all the better.

Don’t get bit!
