The Fly Zapper by Pestbegone. I owned this item for a few months to zap flies with out smelly spray which lands on surfaces and contaminates soft furniture. There are a number of different version ranging in price. So how does this work? With two batteries( I use rechargeable )you press the red button and a charge builds up on a metal grid. The static build up is supposed to attract the bug but I not found this to be true. Then the fun starts.
There are a number of tactics depending upon the target. Moths easy just wave it lazily in the general area and they are zapped. The small house flies you need to develop a method. Mine is to wait poised in the area and with a short movement zap…. the small fly then sticks to to the metal grid burning and smoking acridly. Sometimes though a glaring blow just knocks them out of the air…. you can with zap em again or more conventional smack. I had less luck with blue bottles damn things move fast and change direction too quickly.
The construction is plastic frame with a double metal grid. It won’t stand up to swotting flies onto hard surfaces. Its a bit of fun… and with practice you can have some fun… I love the smell of burning fly in the morning. For less than a tenner what can go wrong..... might not be suitable if young kids are around I think this would give them quite a shock. This is available on prime (so free) and there are other models.
