I've been looking for the perfect portable office setup. Up until now I thought that to be my 11" Macbook Air but as something that I need to carry around all of the time it is still a little unwieldy and doesn’t have the battery life that I need. I do however have an iPad Mini that has been lying around for a while unused but it is the right size and fits a lot of my needs for general note taking and emails. The only issue is that even though I'm skilled with an onscreen keyboard it still doesn’t allow me to input in the same way that I do with a physical keyboard, plus when you do use the keyboard on an iPad you lose half of the editing screen to the keys.
So what's the solution? Well a Bluetooth keyboard could hold the key but a lot of them out there are far too expensive just to use as an experiment so I began the hunt and what I came up with was the Teknet X361 keyboard case.
The X361 provides both a keyboard and a case for your iPad Mini but you have available all of the functions of a full physical keyboard without having to flick through multiple options for numbers and symbols etc.
The keyboard is tactile but small and does take some time getting used to but it's a small learning curve. It has all keys you need plus a few extras. Obviously this is combined with the touchscreen functions of the iPad making it a great little laptop.
I'm finding it much easier to use than I thought.
The iPad slots nicely into its hinge and acts well as a protective case for day to day use but would be concerned if I dropped it.
It is a tad 'plasticy' but it costs less that 17 quid and comes with Prime on Amazon. So if you’re looking to expand the use of your current tablet then this is something well worth trying. It may even make me move up to some of its more expensive big brothers in the future.
