So it’s a new year and time for those resolutions. Now one I’m hoping to stick with in 2014 is to get fitter and to motivate myself to try harder I want to track my efforts whether it be walking, running or cycling. Now there are a huge selection of apps for each of these but what about one that tracks them all without you having to lift a finger? Well Moves for Android and iOS does just that.
Moves doesn’t actually require you doing that much at all apart from putting your phone in your pocket. Using the accelerometers and GPS in your device it can work out when you’re walking, running and cycling and tracks them individually so that you can monitor each to their own merit. The app tracks steps taken, duration, distance travelled and calories burned so you can see what’s working best for you.
There is also a storyline mode where it will use your GPS to track and show you where you travelled and show you as a map which is great if you want to add a few detours into your daily routine to burn off those extra calories.
It also allows you to set daily records and gives daily push notification feedback to fuel your competitive side.
Now as we all probably know these types of apps are battery killers but this is not something that Moves has ignored and there is a battery saving mode that will help with that but I didn’t find it as accurate as the full version so best keep an eye on that battery indicator.
Moves also connects with a number of fitness and rewards apps so it may be well worth checking if you can include it into your current regimes.
Best of all it’s free and like I say for Android and iOS so if you want to keep on top of your exercise in 2014 and require a little motivation then this is a no brainer.
