Now I’m not the first person to promote a dedicated Windows application but finally I think I've found one. Due to the nature of my profession I find myself trapped in a Microsoft world and the only real way I get to check my Twitter feeds is via the web meaning I end up missing out on so much. So I've been on the lookout for a decent desktop app. Now a lot of you would say that TweetDeck is the way to go but in my opinion it’s been going down hill rapidly since it was acquired by Twitter so that's a no-no. Then with the release of Windows 8 there has been a lot of talk about MetroTwit which has been designed to fit in with the new modern interface and luckily for me it also works in Windows 7.
The UI is really clean and easy to to view. Updating of feeds is smooth and with a glance I can now keep up with the goings on of all you lovely people that I follow.
I also really love when you are tweeting from the app as behind your text are huge numbers which countdown as you type so you know how close you are to your 140 character limit.
The only real criticism that I have it that it takes ages to install (even more if you’re not running .net 4.5 already) but once you’re up and running it’s totally fab.
So if you’re looking for a new way to keep up to date this might be worth checking out.
