So one of my favourite times of the year is upon us, Halloween. As a kid of the 80 and fan of the cheesy horror movies of the time it all just works for me, and even more so for this year as Stranger Things is back.
Now don't worry if you haven't started the new series which came out on Friday. This is a spoiler free review. More about the shows execution and how it made me feel. I am going to binge watch the whole thing but not in one go. A couple of episodes a night should do it for me to prolong my enjoyment.
The first thing to say about the show is how happy I am that it's back. Last week I did binge rewatch series 1 and it's amazing how atmospheric it is, everything from the intro to the whole feel of the thing.
Like I said I'm an 80’s child and it amazes me how authentic it is. You could really believe that you really have been transported back to 1984.
So the first episode of series 2 picks up almost a year from the climax of series one, finding Will, overcoming the Upside Down and the day that 11 went missing.
We pick up with the usual gang and it feels like we’ve never been away. But it seems as though we haven't escaped the danger. We are presented with an eerie reminder of why we love Stranger Things so much as Will realises he is not free of his captors.
As you can imagine there are some new additions to the cast but I won’t spoil it by telling you who they are.
All of your fave characters are back and they are trying to return to normality but as we all know that's not going to happen any time soon.
The show is just as creepy as before and has nostalgia in spades.
I think Michael Jackson’s Thriller was a symbol of Halloween for my generation, Stranger Things will do that for this one.
The whole series is available to watch now on Netflix.
