You Meerkat, I Meerkat, we all Meerkat. Well that seems to be what everyone's doing this week. If you're not in the loop then you're about to be. Meerkat is an app for iOS that lets you stream live video from your iPhone and iPad straight to Twitter.

It couldn't be simpler. Download the app, sign in with your Twitter account and you're good to go. Using it is a doddle too. Just tell the world what your stream is all about and broadcast to the world. If you're not ready to put yourself out there straight away then you can schedule your stream for later on. Meerkat then posts to Twitter on your behalf to tell you're followers that you're live or when you're going to be live. They can then tune in via the app or a web browser. It couldn't be simpler. One word of advice though, take some time to learn where to hold your camera or as in my experience people get to look up your nose.

Meerkat RecordingWhen the video is broadcasting Meerkat then tells you when your followers start watching, it also tells you who is watching. You can also interact with your audience via the inbuilt chat.

Once your broadcast is over you can then choose to save the recording to your device but if you don't use this option it is destroyed and Meerkat promise not to store the data.

Additionally you can join the Meerkat leader board which from what I can see is based on how much you broadcast and how many viewers you get but I'll provide and update when I've used it more.

As with Twitter you can see which of your friends you are following on Meerkat and how many follow you back so now you can delve deeper in the depravity of your friends so watch what you post.

You can download Meerkat now and for free from the iOS App Store.
