Duet has to be one of the most simplistic but addictive iOS games I have ever played. The aim of the game is even more basic, navigate two balls or as the game refers to them 'vessels' that are in perfect sync through an array of obstacles. Maybe it sounds a little too simplistic but once you get into it you'll find it hard to put down and over time you'll begin to perfect your motion and form a symbiosis with your balls (yes I went there).
You control your 'vessel's simply by holding onto either the left or right of your screen.
The most satisfying thing is when you develop a rhythm in your game play and everything just seems to flow. As the levels progress the obstacles standing between you and your ultimate success become more complex and you find yourself having to adapt very quickly but once you get the knack it becomes amazingly satisfying. If you smash into one of the many barriers in the game you are returned to the start of the level but it leaves a handy reminder in the form of a red or blue splat so you can see where you went wrong last time and where you need to be more mindful and change your tactics.
For me one of the best things about Duet is the soundtrack. It's mind-bendingly hypnotic and relaxing and sounds amazing through your headphones, just make sure you don't get to relaxed and lose your way.
And that's really it. The absolute simplicity of the game means that there really isn't much to say but that's it beauty. I was hooked from the moment I started playing.
Duet costs 1.99 in the App Store and that's it. No annoying in app purchases. Just pay and play.
